Strawbales

Well the weather has been so wonky I haven't been able to plant in the straw, but maybe this weekend. We've been under Tornado watches/warnings more often than not in the last few days, but today the sun is shining and the humidity is gone for now. I'll buy my plants today!

There are plans in the works to have a small reunion with some ladies I went to college with. I'm super excited about having the opportunity to get together with Joan and Shel. Maybe some of the others in this area will be free to join us. We plan on going to Mayfest one of the days and we'll do whatever else comes to mind at that time. It's fun just to kinda fly by the seat of our pants. It will be great for Joan's Elizabeth and my Kenadee to meet and get to know each other. Anyway, we'll have our camera's handy and will take lots of pictures!

Lamesa

Although I start out this week a little exhausted, it find that it's totally worth it! Friday night was spent gathering pictures of 3 beautiful teenage girls and creating a collage for one of them whom we all love very much!!! Saturday was spents running around from the minute I woke up to make sure I was ready for the short (4.5hour) road trip to Lamesa (said Pizza) Did you know they are having the first annual Chicken Fried Steak Festival there at the end of the month???? Sounds like a cool festival. Anyway......I digress, we went to Lamesa to be there for a public profession of a young mans faith. Bryce Singleton was baptized in front of his family, his church, and God on Sunday. Now, I didn't know Bryce, or his family until I arrived at their house on Saturday evening. I was lucky enough to accompany my new friend Brandi on this journey. Brandi knew Bryce from kids camp last year as she was there to lead him to the Lord. What fun we had getting to spend time with this wonderful family. It was truly as if we had known them for years. We laughed until our cheeks hurts. They completely opened their home up to us, allowed us to crash on their couch, their floor, and their beds, made us an amazing dinner, and were so welcoming. So fun! Thanks Nicole, Kenny, Bryce, and Breeley!

Friendship

Some friends are there for a life time, some just for a season.....I've been witness to a friendship my mom has had with Toni since I was 7 years old. They have a kinship I think all of us look for in a relationship. Sometimes life gets busy but they both take time to touch base and check on one another. It's a sister hood that transcends time. There never seems to be any awkwardness between them even when time passes and its been awhile since they talked. I love Toni (Aunt Toni) because of her heart, her kindness, and because of how she loves my mom. Oh and her rissot isn't so bad either. lol

I think we all long for that kind of relationship, that kind of friendship. I know I do.

Gardening????

This - is my garden......

or it will be.

Right now it's just a bunch of straw. I'll be watering it for the next 3 days getting it ready to grow something.

Grow what??? I'm not sure - maybe some tomatoes, or squash, or herbs - Maybe all of it, who knows.....

But for now, it's just 2 bales of straw on the side of our house.....

Life w/o Kenadee

Bright and early Saturday morning I met the ladies from my home group for breakfast at Our Place. It was so nice being out and fellowshiping with the ladies, but then.....it was over. Ken had plans to go to SixFlags with a friend from school, so I was on my own for the day. Rodney had stay up super late and I knew he'd sleep a while. So as the other ladies left to begin their busy day, I left to begin my not busy day. I did stop by the hospital to check on Jamie and her mother. I didn't want to intrude there to long so I did my checkin and headed on my way. I decided to make a pot roast, mashed potatoes, gravy, and veggies. Went to wally world and picked up the things I needed for that fabulous meal. To kill sometime I decided I cook the roast the old fashion way, No silly crock pot for me! Nope, I'd brown the meat really well, pull it out of the pot, add mushrooms and onions to the pot and put the roast back into the pot, with beef broth, and than put the whole mess in the oven for the many hours it would take to cook. Well all that took about an hour. So, I texted Ken to make sure she was having fun......and she was......did some dishes, swept the kitchen, sat on the couch, text Ken again to find out if she knew what time she'd be coming home, she said "when Sixflags closes." (of course).........Then it HIT ME IN THE FACE!!! By this time Rodney had gotten up and was working in Kens room (like a good DAD), and I was just sitting there, waiting for the roast to cook, realizing that I had run out of salt, AND THAT MY LIFE IS GOING TO BE TOTALLY BORING ONCE MY KID LEAVES THE HOUSE FOR GOOD!!! Wow! There were things I could should have been doing around the house, but I didn't want to do any of those things! Once she can drive herself around I become totally useless.......hmmmmm maybe she'll never pass her driving test, I AM the one teaching her.....(hehe evil laugh). You empty nesters out there, was it a hard transition? I'm still a few years away, but it becomes more real to me every day! Kenadee thinks I'm crazy...........but I'm not............no really, I'm not!
