The video below is of the craziness that takes place if you live in Tarrant County and want your child to attend Paschal High School. Kenadee will be a freshman in high school next year, (i know, it's crazy, I hardly believe it myself, but it's true) and she is suppose to attend Eastern Hills HS. Those of you from this area know that Eastern Hills has been academically unacceptable for years and so we did not want her to attend that high school. When we moved to this area of Fort Worth years ago we knew we'd have to do something when it came time for high school. We were hoping that we'd be able to sell our house and move back up into the Hurst/Euless/Bedford area, but with the way the market is it not a possiblity. A couple of years ago I saw some news clips of people camping out in Fort Worth to get their kids into Paschal. My neighbor down the street called in early January to tell me she would be one of the campers this year and she planned on starting on Wednesday February 25 as the transfers start March 2 this year. As crazy as it sounds, I planned to be there with her. We started watching the high school on Tuesday February 24 because Kati was prepared to start camping that early if the line happened to start then. Rodney was going to stay on Tuesday night if it was necessary. Fortunately, it wasn't, and it wasn't necessary on Wednesday night either. Kati and I spoke on Wednesday night and decided come hell or high water we were going down on Thursday morning at 7 am. Thank goodness we did. I was almost to the school when I received a call from Kati stating there were already people in line. Fortunately I was just around the corner. I parked, and signed in as number 9!!! Kati was number 8. I stayed all day and night on Thursday and all day Friday, but I was sick and it was COLD!!!! Rodney came down Friday night after work to relieve me so that I could get warm and sleep in my own bed. He was nice enough to suffer through all day Saturday too, which allowed me the entire day to recoup. I went back down to the school on Sunday and stayed until Monday morning. It would appear that our Kenadee will be a Paschal HS Panther next year!! We are so excited! The camp out was worth it, but if there was ever a time I was grateful to just have 1 child, this was it!
