Chalky hands
The theme over at I ♥ faces is chalk. Here's a sweet girl showing her chalk covered hands after creating a chalk master piece. PS. The master piece picture is also attached. lol

Rain, mud, and Homecoming
I woke up this morning to a loud crash of thunder. My first thought was "Sweet, cheering in the rain!" Rain games are always the most fun. We're very relaxed with the girls. They don't have to wear their uniforms.
Longhorns
Cowboys
We get to play with babies.....
Longhorn
Cowboy
they don't wear their shoe's and they squish in MUD
It's just plain fun.
Ken left the field early today so she could come home and get pretty for homecoming. Her she is, so pretty!
Here's she is with her dad.....I look at this and I remember when she was little and said she would one day marry her dad. She cried when we tried to explain to her that she couldn't. Now, it seems, she's on the verge of adult hood......
And I thought I'd try to sneak in one real quick before she started to get annoyed
Busy Saturday, now over....church tomorrow.
Paschal Homecoming
Today was spirit day for the week of homecoming at Keni's school. Tomorrow is the dance, but today keni got to wear her school colors and her mum. We saw mums of all types at the football game that Paschal lost tonight (if you didn't know, her school is terrible at football). We're of the mind that less is better when it comes to mums. Her mum turned out great, (thanks Montana!) I'm hoping I'll be back from my footballs games to take pictures of her before she heads to the dance tomorrow, but for today here she is in all her purple glory.
and than some black and whites, of course!

Summer PLEASE END!!!! NOW!
Will it ever be autumn (fall)??? I'm so tired of the heat. It's depressing and suffocating and about to make me go crazy. We are mid September and the nights are still scorthers. I CAN'T TAKE IT, I tell you. I'm longing for the colors of fall, except here things just turn from green to brown. There maybe a brief red or yellow in there, but you better be paying attention cause if you're not you'll miss it. It's bad when we're still worrying about heat stroke and hydration during peewee football games. My little girls were melting on Saturday and I can not tell a lie, so was I! I'm not sure how those boys do it with all the pads and helmet. They're pretty tough cookies.

***NYC***
Our trip into the city was fast and furious. Cesca's GPS took us through the getto to Battery Park where we left the car parked. But we crossed over into Manhattan just fine.
From there we we road the Staten Island Ferry over and back to get some pix of the Green Lady.
And the skyline from the Ferry.
We got off one ferry to get on another returning to Manhattan. The girls and I were jogging trying to make the retuning ferry but grampy was walking a little ways behind. The girls and I made it through the door and turned around to make sure grampy was going to make it but the door got shut right in his face!!! We tried to tell the ferry people that he was with us and they could just let him through, but they held firm and told us we could walk back around and wait with him for the next ferry. We laughed so hard and we teased him all day long.
From there it was to the subway
Where 3 clueless people tried to figure out what train we needed to take to Time Square.
Finally a subway worker came and helped them out. We made it safely to 42nd and 7th
Time Square
Ken had to go into American Eagle in Time Square
While we were in there guess who was outside.....we had to go get a pix with him.
or two
Um we also saw this......OMG, you can't unsee it once you do so sorry.....
Such an awesome day, even with Grampy's crazy driving. I love NYC, the building, the sights, every crazy dirty part of it.
This is what your feet look like after a day of wearing flip flops in Manhattan -
Really GROSS!!!

This trip made me realize that I desperately want my kid to know her family. We live here in Fort Worth and I love it, but we have no Aunt, Uncles, Cousins, or grandparent. She gets to see her grandparents, not as often as she should. She's has grown up and I haven't made it a priority for her to know her family. It has a lot to do with distance, but I need to make more of an effort. She has had more access to her dads side of the family, but even that has been so limited. Seeing her with her cousins was amazing. She's the oldest great grand child, but the younger grand kids took her under their wing and showed her so much love.
There was so much love between her and these girls. Ken had such a great time getting to know cousins (1st, 2nd, 3rd......whatever), aunts, and uncles - . She fell in love with everyone.
It makes me sad to know that my niece will miss out getting to know her Soto side. They are such a fabulous group of people, full of love, laughter, and life.

Love with Family continued
Well with the end of his life my grandpa reunited his sons and daughter. It was so nice to see them together and lovin each other. They parted ways with tears, promises to call, visit and never let 4 years and disagreements separate them again. I'm sad because the only pictures I got of all four of them together is on my broken phone. I'll have to find out if it can some how be retrieved. Never mind, I just got a brilliant idea to check my t-mobile on line photo album.....and yay, the picture was there....

Look at them, aren't they a sight. They love each other, they really do.
As I said in the previous post....we arrived on Friday 9-3-10 at 6 am. As quickly as we could we all found somewhere to sleep because we knew the whirl wind was about to begin. The "hurricane" came through Long Island on Friday. So there was a down pouring of rain but by evening it was gone. There was a viewing mid afternoon, and another in the evening. There were people we didn't remember and some we did remember. Uncles saw great nieces for the first time....

Great grand kids chilled out in the sun

and played on the swings

Cousins disturbed cousins trying to take a cat nap while 2nd cousin sits near by and enjoys a Popsicle

Such a sad occasion brought so much joy. I can't wait to continue to share pictures. Wish I had an artistic touch because I'd find some way to put together a collage. Again, thanks so much for the kind words and prayers.
